« A Paraguayan family experienced both extremes, and their story began with a woman named Doña Ignacia, who, by the way, turned 90 last year in 2021.
In her youth, she had a son, Pablo Acuña, and shortly after his birth, she realized that he wasn’t developing normally.
‘I quickly realized that my son, at a young age, wasn’t growing much,’ she explained.
Her husband and she eventually took him to the hospital to find out what was wrong and if there was anything that could be done to help him.
‘He stayed in the hospital for two or three months, and then he [the father] brought him back as he had left,’ Ignacia explained. »
« Unfortunately, it seems that Pablo was born with a condition that hindered the growth of his limbs, leaving him without arms or legs.
Naturally, his mother stayed by his side and cared for him like any other child. As Pablo grew, he needed the assistance of a wheelchair, but his mother reminded him every day that he was special and deserved to live like anyone else.
It might be this compassion that gave Pablo the attitude he needed to make a huge difference when he became a parent himself. According to reports, he had two daughters, but their mother abandoned them when they were still very young. »
« Despite the obvious difficulties and challenges that Pablo must face in his life, he has managed to raise his two daughters with love and care. Today, they are in their twenties, and one of them, Elida, spoke affectionately of her father.
She explains that he is wise and intelligent, despite never having received a formal education, and adds that he remains happy and positive despite what life has thrown at him.
‘My father is my world. He’s my friend… he’s the best father in the world. That’s why I left my life in Argentina and came to live here,’ she said.
‘In order to take care of him, as my grandmother can no longer do so because she’s already old.’
