10-Year-Old Girl Survived 18 Hours in Snowstorm Thanks to the Warmth of a Stray Dog

In Russia, a 10-year-old girl got lost and was stuck in a snowstorm for 18 hours. She managed to survive the freezing cold by snuggling up to a stray dog.

Viktoria is a 10-year-old girl who lives in Russia. On her way home from school, she stopped to play with dogs on the way, when a snowstorm hit the village. White powder immediately covered the road until it reached the first floor of the houses, and Viktoria found herself lost in the middle of the blizzard.

To protect herself from the strong winds, snow and freezing cold , Viktoria took shelter under a balcony, where she saw a stray dog resting on a mattress.

The little girl survived thanks to the dog
For 18 hours, Viktoria stayed next to the dog . As the thermometer read -11 degrees, she snuggled up to the stray dog all night to keep warm with her body heat, which kept her alive. During the night, more than 40 police officers were mobilized to find Viktoria.

“The fact that the girl survived in such weather is truly a miracle ,” volunteer researcher Anatoly Ivanov said. We searched all night, we had no visibility, our hands were so frozen that it was difficult to move our fingers. In the morning, we thought we would never find her alive. How can you survive such a nightmare outside?

Eventually, the authorities managed to find the girl and the dog the next morning, around 8:45 a.m. Viktoria had some frostbite and was taken to hospital to check on her condition. She was able to go home during the day.

The stray dog left as soon as the police arrived. The locals continue to search for him so that he can be thanked.
