At the age of 25, she decides to give up dyeing before the wedding and completely reveals her gray hair

This 27-year-old New Zealander has finally decided to take charge of her gray hair. For her wedding, she therefore chose not to dye her hair. She is now happier than ever.

White hair is the obsession of many people. But there comes an age when you can’t do anything about it and you have to accept this change. Sophie McGrath, a 27-year-old New Zealander, experienced this haunting far too early. However, the young woman decided to accept and fully embrace her original color.

It was in 2007, at the age of just 13, that Sophie discovered her first gray hair. Sophie doesn’t ask herself too many questions and gets rid of it very quickly with tweezers. But time passes, and Sophie’s dark brown hair disappears in favor of white hair , always more numerous. At 15, Sophie begins to dye her hair and will repeat the same process for ten long years.

During this period, Sophie will test several colors in order to hide her early white hair. Tests that the young teenager appreciates but which she tires of very quickly. Then, at 25, Sophie threw in the towel: “ Dying my hair was turning into something I constantly thought about. I realized that having to cover my silver hair was causing me more stress than my gray hair itself ,” she told Daily Mail Australia .

Additionally, Sophie adds that the process was also time consuming, expensive and something she “ needed ” to do.

And according to the 27-year-old, this was the best decision to make: » My self-confidence was lower while I was dyeing my hair because I had to hide something so natural about myself .»

White hair — especially when it occurs at a young age — is hidden and camouflaged in plain sight. But Sophie, tired of this ‘fashion’ has finally embraced her true color. » I have never felt more confident about my appearance than now with my gray hair which I proudly show off .» Her hair regained strength and shine and it was only natural that Sophie decided to stay natural at her wedding in 2019.

Sophie admits to having been inspired and motivated by the many people who proudly expose themselves on social networks with their white hair and at any age. » Having gray hair earlier is much more common than people think ,» concludes Sophie, who now feels freer and more fulfilled than ever.
